Find out what’s in #CanonExplorerOfLight @ricksammonphotography’s camera bag! “The gear you see here is my basic travel pack: photo gear for making pictures in a variety of situations, and my travel guitar for having fun when I am not photographing and processing my images. About two years ago I switched to the Canon EOS R mirrorless system, and I am now photographing exclusively with the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6, both of which offer super-fast focus and Animal Tracking – a feature that has given me a higher percentage of 'keepers' when it comes to photographing fast-moving animals. What’s more, the viewfinder in both cameras is amazing, which is actually the reason why I switched to a fully mirrorless system. As you can see, I actually don’t own many lenses. That’s because I am a member of CPS (Canon Professional Service) and I borrow other lenses (and cameras) when needed. The face mask, now an essential part of my travel kit, is from CPS. The memory card wallet, which houses my Delkin Devices SD cards and Cfast cards that I use (along with SD cards) in the Canon EOS R5, is also from CPS. Cfast cards are, that’s right, super fast. To take advantage of that speed, I use a Delkin Devices Cfast card reader so I can download my images lickety-split. (Great for a super-hyper person like myself!) Here’s a look at my lenses: • Canon RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM • Canon RF 15-35mm F2.8 L IS USM • Canon RF100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM • Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM with Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R • I also travel with the Extender RF1.4x to extend the zoom range of my Canon RF100-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM Other stuff you see here: • Head lamp • Platypod • Really Right Stuff ballhead • Canon battery charger with battery • Black Rapid camera strap • Micro-fiber lens cleaning cloth A quick tip: When traveling, near or far, think carefully about the essential gear that you will need, and pack only that gear. The more compact your kit, the faster you’ll have access to lenses and accessories. Plus, you will also be able to travel lighter.”
