Artist Polina Osipova (@polinatammi) creates embroidery and jewelry inspired by folklore and symbols from her indigenous Turkic ancestry.⁣ ⁣ “My art is an attempt to remember my childhood and to honor the Chuvash culture that I find mesmerizing,” says 22-year-old Polina, who’s from Cheboksary, the capital of the Chuvashia region of Russia.⁣ ⁣ “To be born in a traditional Chuvash family means to be surrounded by arts and crafts on an everyday basis. As I learn more about our culture and traditions, I feel a deeper bond with my predecessors. Almost all of my recent projects are related to our people. I want them to be remembered. I am lucky to be able to talk to my grandmothers, hear the bedtime stories and superstitions they told me about when I was a child. From these experiences, ideas emerge.⁣ ⁣ The heart symbol is widely used in our traditional embroidery and represents loyalty, unity, love and the Chuvash people themselves.”⁣ ⁣ #ThisWeekOnInstagram⁣ ⁣ Video by @polinatammi
